Rishabh Pant was standing on the crease after scoring 30 runs with him. Both had added 50 runs in the unbeaten partnership of the fourth wicket. The unbeaten partnership of 50 runs in 91 balls between the two has been done so far. James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Ben Stokes got one wicket each.
Bairstow’s century, Bumrah broke Kapil’s record
Earlier, Jonny Bairstow of England scored the first century of his Test career against India. He scored 106 runs in 140 balls with the help of 14 fours and two sixes.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah broke the 41-year-old record of Kapil Dev by taking three wickets in the first innings of England. Bumrah has become the highest wicket-taker in his first 30 Tests. Bumrah has taken 126 wickets in 30 Tests. Whereas, Kapil Dev took 124 wickets in the same test. Shami is at number three with 110 wickets.
