IND vs NZ Test – Day 1: Indian Team had the Upper Hand

IND vs NZ Day 1: Indian Team had the better position on the first day of the first test against New Zealand on Thursday. By the end of the first-day game, the Indian team scored 258 runs. India loses 4 wickets on day 1 of the match. Shreyas Iyer who did his debut with this test match lived up to the expectations of the coach Rahul Dravid. Shreyas Iyer playing at 75 runs has hit 9 boundaries including 7 fours and 2 sixes.  Ravindra Jadeja is on the other end playing with 6 boundaries in his 50 runs innings.

Ajinkya Rahane who is taking command of the team in the first test match won the toss and decided to Bat first. Although at one time of the match, team India was under pressure after losing his 4 wickets on the mere score of 145. But Ravindra Jadeja who came after that decided to play along with Shreyas Iyer and helped the team to reach a respectable situation.  

By the end of the day of IND vs NZ test day 1, India scored 258 for 4 with an ongoing partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja of 113 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are still struggling to attain their better form. They scored 26 and 35 runs respectively.

Opener batsman Shubhman gill also scored a half-century on day 1 of the IND vs NZ test. It was the 4th century of his Test career. He faced 92 deliveries and scored 52 runs including 5 fours and 1 six. While his opening partner, Mayank Agarwal, just scored 13 runs facing 28 balls.

From the New Zealand bowling side, Kyle Jamieson bowled a wonderful spell.  He took three wickets including the opening pair of the team and Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane. Puajara was dismissed by Tim Southee. From overall prospect, IND vs NZ Test day 1 was in favor of the Indian team as they had an upper hand with a score of 258. India will try to keep the momentum on for the next day too.
