The first day of the first test of IND vs RSA in Centurian was all for Indian opener KL Rahul. Indian team scored 273 runs and lost 3 wickets by end of the first-day game, where Indian Opener KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 122 runs. He faced 248 balls where he hit 18 boundaries including a Six. This feat made him the second Indian opener who scored a century in South Africa.
Equalled record with Jaffer
With his century in the first test against South Africa, KL Rahul becomes the second opener to do this. Before that Wasim Jaffer had done the same in the Capetown test in 2007 and became the first Indian opener batsman to hit a century in South Africa. At the end of the first day, KL Rahul was on 122 runs and Ajinkya Rahane is with him on the crease with a score of 40 runs.
Kl Rahul has made a total of 7 centuries in his career. Out of these, he has scored 6 hundred on the foreign soils. He has become the first Indian opener who has scored a century in South Africa, England, and Australia.
Virat broke Azhar’s record
By winning the toss in the first test, Virat Kohli left behind the former Indian team captain Mohammad Azharuddin. Virat Kohli has become the most time toss-winning captain from the Indian side. He as a test captain won the toss 30th time in his 68th test match. Azhar won the toss 29 times as a test captain in his 47 test matches. Dhoni is in third place with 26 toss wins in 60 matches.
100 runs partnership for an opening pair
Mayank Agarwal and Kl Rahul’s opening pair added 117 runs to the scoreboard. Mayank Agarwal scored a half-century. He played an inning of 60 runs in 123 balls where he hit 9 boundaries. It has been eleven years since any Indian opening pair scored a 100 runs partnership in South Africa. Before This Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir played a 137 runs partnership in the Capetown test in 2010.
