IPL 15: RCB beat KKR by three wickets in the low-scoring match. Royal Challengers Bangalore got Kolkata all out for 128 and won by three wickets. RCB, who lost the first match of IPL 15, made a comeback to register a 3-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. Winning the toss, RCB decided to bowl first and bundled out Kolkata for 128 runs in 18.5 overs.
Chasing the target, RCB won by scoring 132 runs for seven wickets in 19.2 overs. For RCB, Dinesh Karthik scored 14 not out in 7 balls, Harshal Patel scored ten not out in 6 balls, and Sherfane Rutherford scored 28 runs.
Harshal and Wanindu’s lethal bowling
Apart from Royal Challengers Bangalore’s medium pacer Harshal Patel, spinner Wanindu Hasaranga bowled lethally. Wanindu spent only 20 runs in 4 overs and took four wickets. At the same time, Harshal Patel took two wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs.
KKR’s disappointing batting
Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsmen performed disappointingly. Opening pair Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh could not give a good start to the team. Captain Shreyas Iyer also could not hold on to wicket and was dismissed after scoring 13 runs. Nitish Rana scored 10 runs and Sam Billings scored 14, also disappointed.
BCCI invited to tender the broadcasting rights
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited to tender the broadcasting rights for the IPL season 2023 to 2027. The auction for these rights will start on June 12 and tenders can be bought till May 10, 2022. According to a report, BCCI will earn around 45000 crores from Right. All records will be broken. The board going to auction this for the first time. BCCI going to auction broadcasting rights for the first time. To participate in this auction, companies will have to deposit ₹25 lakh along with non-refundable GST for tender.
Expected to earn 2 times more
The broadcasting rights of IPL are currently with Star Sports, which it bought for Rs 16,347 crore from 2018 to 2022. In this digital rights are also included but according to a report this time BCCI is expected to earn from 40000 to 45000 crores.
Board does not have to pay tax
Interestingly, BCCI does not have to pay any tax on the earnings from broadcasting rights. In fact, for promoting cricket in the country through IPL. BCCI is exempted from paying tax on any income earned in IPL under Section 12-A of Income Tax.
BCCI will sell broadcasting rights, not in one but four different packages. Under this, the BCCI has kept a different base price for all the packages. Whereas the base price of the entire package is around Rs 32,890 crore.
Package-A TV Rights: Base price Rs 18,130 crore.
Package-B Digital Rights: The base price for the digital (OTT) platform will be Rs 12,210 crore.
Package -C non-exclusive special category: In this package, 18 matches will be available for a season, it is for OTT. The base price is Rs 1,440 crore.
Package-D World Rights: TV and digital rights will be taken to broadcast matches outside India, its best price is 1110 crores
