The first match between India and West Indies is to be played from February 6. New Captain Rohit Sharma, who has returned from injury, will take over the command of the Indian team. The Indian team, led by the new captain Rohit Sharma, will start the three-match ODI series against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Changes in Indian Team Due to Covid

India has made some changes in the team for the first ODI after covid positive cases in players. Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan have been added to the squad for the first ODI. Shikhar Dhawan, Rituraj Gayakwad and Shreyas Iyer are out of the team after contracting the Covid 19 virus. KL Rahul will also not be a part of the team as he will be occupied in his sister’s marriage.

The ground is lucky for West Indies

The first match between India and West Indies will be played in Ahmedabad after a long gap of almost 10 years. The last match between the two teams was played here on 5 December 2011, which West Indies won by 16 runs. West Indies have played a total of 7-matches hereof which 5-matches have been won, two have been lost. So the Indian team will be eyeing to improve the record against West Indies here.

Rohit can leave Sachin behind

Captain Rohit Sharma can become the second Indian batsman to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs against West Indies, leaving behind Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin has scored 1573 runs whereas Rohit has scored 1523 runs against the West Indies. Virat has the highest 2235 runs against West Indies. At the same time, Rohit has three centuries against West Indies, while Sachin has four centuries. Virat Kohli is at the forefront of this list with nine centuries.
